Minbu's Name:
Minbu's full name is Minbu Callisto
Tralee . Minbu is named after a district of Myanmar (formerly Burma) of the
same name (Minbu). Because Asian Leopard Cat's are native to Asia and SE Asia,
including Myanmar, and the district Minbu has a wildlife sanctuary called the 'Shwesettaw
Wildlife Sanctuary' we think this name is very befitting - also very cute! See
our names section for a small list of unusual names we think are great for cats,
with their meanings.
Minbu's Leopard Looks:
Minbu has white "socks" (toe tips), a white diamond shape on her belly and white under her chin and the softest wild-cat feeling fur. She has the most beautiful large nocturnal eyes
of yellow/amber.
Minbu's Personality:
Minbu is very lady-like and graceful. When given her favourite titbits she takes these very gracefully. She loves to play in the garden, engaging in her favourite past-time of bee- and fly-stalking. She cutely mumbles to herself when stalking insects. Quirkily she will never drink water without "testing the water" first - pawing it
at least twice. Does any Bengal owner out there have a Bengal who displays this
quirky behaviour? She also has an obsession with nipping growing shoots of
a pot pine tree, nibbling these and then discards them by flicking her mouth
from side to side. I suspect that this gives Minbu some health benefits. I
will comment on this at some later date.
Though Minbu has been spayed she has very strong
natural maternal instincts. Upon hearing the meows of a kitten down her
road she came home mumbling and meowing in a worried manner and took my daughter
down the road to the source of the meows.
Minbu's Particularly Querky Traits:
Minbu at present has the bad habit of bringing frogs into the
house, through the cat flap. She doesn't kill them she just treats them as toys.
We have to rescue a number of frogs this way.
Minbu's Favourite Toys:
Minbu's favourite toys are also the plastic suction
darts (pictured on Juma's page). She likes to play with these on the
stairs. You have to throw them to her like a dog. She won't bring them back to
you but she wants the excitement of being able to grab them when they are
thrown. Minbu seems to have a preference for the black plastic dart. Can Minbu
differentiate the colours or is preference down to shading? There is some current
research to suggest that cats do have some colour vision.
Minbu's Sleeping Habits
Minbu has a favourite place to sleep - on a very old but comfy
computer chair. No one else gets a chance to use this chair. In summer, Minbu
likes to sleep under a Japanese Maple tree in her garden.
Please visit both the Slideshows page and Galleries
page from here or link to these from the main navigation menu to the upper right
or below to see the main photographs of Minbu. Thanks.
